God Bless the Farmer pictures colored by third-graders

Dear Farmers,

My name is Chance! We have a song about you and it says thank you. Thank you for all you do.

Sincerely,
Chance

God Bless the Farmer

For every grain of sand
On every shore
There's a seed that is planted in the soil.
There are jobs and jobs
They make this land worth while
What it is through the strife and toil.

God Bless the farmer
The scientists too!
God Bless engineers, and all they do.
God Bless the grocers
God Bless the food
God Bless the rain and sun
The victory won
And God Bless all of you!

For every blessing that's sent our way
For every smile that makes our day
For every step we take
To make our country great
We remember, and this we pray...

(Listen to the students sing the song by clicking this mp3 link)

Third-grade teacher Cheryl Bombenger wrote that song (one of more than 200) as a result of attending an Ag in the Classroom conference. The song was featured at the 2010 NDFB annual meeting banquet, as were letters from Cheryl's students.

Here are some of those letters...

Dear Farmers,

My name is Sydney. I am writing to you because I just want to say thank you for doing what you are doing. We are so much happier in life. You should be proud of yourselfs.

God bless,
Sydney

Dear Farmers,

I am writing to you because I know how hard it is to be a farmer. My dad sells a product to improve soybeans. His name is Francis. That is a responsible career. God bless you and all the farmers.

Love,
Jackson

Dear Farmers,

I'm writing to say thank you for what you do. I know how hard you work because my grandpa and 3 uncles are farmers. My dad works for crop insurans so he might help you. I wish I could live on a farm. Your job is one of the most important jobs in the world. Thanks for feeding our world.

Sincerely,
Hope

Dear Farmers,

Thank you for working with cows. My dad's side of the family does a lot with farming. My grandpa, my cousin and my dad are all farmers. My grandpa works with cows, with my cousin. My dad works with crops. Thanks again for all your hard work.

God bless,
Heidi

Dear Farmers,

I am writing to say thank you for all you do. I know it's hard. I have two uncles that work on farms. Thank you so much again.

God bless you,
Ellie

Dear Friend,

I am writing to you to say thanks for growing food the U.S.A. Do you like your job? What kind of animals do you have on your farm? What kind of crops do you have?

Godspeed,
Alexus

Dear Farmers,

Thank you for all you have done. You should be proud of yourself because you are feeding the world. My neighbor is a farmer too. If the world didn't have farmers we wouldn't have food.

Your friend,
Joe

Dear Farmers,

I hope you grow more food. God is over you. God bless you. I'm praying for you. My grandpa's a great farmer. He plants all day long. I help him sometimes.

Love,
Drew
