Four young people from around the state were named the finalists in the North Dakota Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Discussion Meet, held at the NDFB Farm and Ranch Conference in Minot, January 31-February 2.
Travis Dagman of Enderlin, Jodi Boe of Golden Valley, Chris Holznagel of Belfield and Neil Horner of Wishek will each receive an all-expense paid trip to the 2014 NDFB Annual Meeting in Bismarck next November to compete in the final four Discussion Meet round.
The winner of the North Dakota YF&R Discussion Meet will receive several prizes as well as an all- expense paid trip to compete in the American Farm Bureau Federation YF&R Discussion Meet held during the American Farm Bureau Convention in San Diego, CA in January 2015. The winner there will receive the keys to a new pickup.
The finalists for the Discussion Meet were chosen based on two judged 15-minute issues-discussions.
The YF&R Discussion Meet competition is open to farmers and ranchers between the ages of 18 and 35, and is designed to simulate a committee meeting in which individuals discuss issues and surface solutions to those issues.
