NDFB Scholarship winners announced
Ten individuals from around the state have been awarded scholarships through the North Dakota Farm Bureau Foundation.
The scholarships are a project of the NDFB Promotion and Education Committee.
“We are pleased to be able to support the education of our young people with these scholarships,” said Promotion and Education Committee chairman Kimberly Lemieux. “We also need to recognize the generosity of our members who support this scholarship program by giving to the NDFB Foundation.”
The Becki Palmer Scholarship is for high school seniors and honors a North Dakota Farm Bureau employee who lost her battle with cancer in 2006. Winners of this $250 scholarship are: Caitlyn Arnold of Esmond, Karissa Jensen of Bottineau, Nicole Jorgenson of Rugby, John Miller of Lawton, Gina Vosberg of Wyndmere and Benjamin Keith of Sherwood.
The Farm Bureau Family Member Scholarship is awarded to a current Farm Bureau member or family member who has or will have completed their freshman year of college. Winners of the two $500 scholarships are Stephanie Hatten of Devils Lake and Jennifer Naaden of Braddock
The NDFB Agriculture Scholarship is for an undergraduate student majoring in agriculture that has completed or will be completing their freshman year of post-secondary school. Winner of this $500 scholarship is Sara Scott of Spiritwood.
Winner of the $1,000 Graduate Scholarship is Christia Hejl Weckerly of Grand Forks. The Farm Bureau Graduate Level scholarship is for any Farm Bureau member wishing to complete his or her master’s degree or doctorate.
Each year, approximately $4,000 in scholarships are awarded. Applications for the 2011 scholarships will be available in early January 2011, on the NDFB Web site at www.ndfb.org/edusafe/scholarships. Scholarship applications are due March 15 each year.
