NDFB statement on CFAP

Topic: Issues

The following statement can be attributed to NDFB regarding details of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Coronavirus Food Assistance Program:

"The USDA has announced details of the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program (CFAP), which will provide up to $16 billion in direct payments to deliver relief to America’s farmers and ranchers impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. While NDFB philosophically does not agree with deficit spending for any portion of our government, the programs are being announced and those interested are encouraged to visit the USDA’s website. Part of NDFB's core philosophy states: Individual freedom and opportunity must not be sacrificed in a quest for guaranteed security.

Reflecting on this long-standing policy statement generated from our members, NDFB cautions everyone to consult their banker and accountant regarding these programs and any possible ramifications or pay-back provisions.”
