NDFB student volunteer scholarship opportunity

The NDFB Foundation announces an exciting new scholarship opportunity aimed at high school seniors who are passionate advocates for agriculture. As students gear up for their college journeys, NDFB invites them to consider volunteering with NDFB to help educate the next generation about where their food comes from.

"This scholarship is a fantastic opportunity for high school seniors to not only support agriculture but grow personally as advocates for agriculture,” said Joey Bailey, NDFB's Director of Organizational Development. “By volunteering with NDFB, students can make a lasting impact on young minds and foster a deeper connection to the agricultural world."

This initiative is centered around the book and lesson plan "How Did That Get in My Lunchbox?" Designed for grades 2-5, this resource provides a valuable tool for engaging young minds in conversations about the source of their daily meals.

"We believe this book and educational guide can spark curiosity and create meaningful discussions in classrooms across the state,” said Bailey. “It's an excellent way for students to give back to their communities while enhancing their public speaking skills."

NDFB also offers various statewide initiatives, including but not limited to Special Assignment Pizza and Living Ag in the Classroom.

"Our programs are designed to connect students with real-life agricultural experiences,” said Bailey. “We encourage all high school students, especially those interested in agriculture, to explore these opportunities."

The NDFB Student Volunteer Scholarship will be awarded based on a point system, with additional points awarded to students who accumulate the most volunteering hours. Additionally, students can earn extra points by joining NDFB as a student member. The membership is only $20 a year and offers a platform to engage with like-minded individuals passionate about agriculture."

The scholarship carries a substantial value of $2,500 and is now open for applications. Interested high school seniors should submit their applications by May 1, 2024.
