North Dakota population increases
BISMARCK, ND – The United States Census Bureau released the agency’s 2010 decennial count of population for the nation and each state. The actual count, which took place early in 2010, shows the population as of April 1, 2010. The results show North Dakota’s population grew by 30,391 people over the April 1, 2000 population count of 642,200. The new 2010 official state population is 672,591.
The North Dakota Census Committee is made up of representatives from the State Data Center at NDSU, the North Dakota Office of Management and Budget, the Commerce Department, Job Service North Dakota, and the Office of the Tax Commissioner. The North Dakota Census Committee worked with the U.S. Census and with the state and local complete count committees to assist in informing North Dakotans about the importance of getting counted in the census. The 2009 estimated North Dakota population was 646,844.
