Wagner appointed to national committee

Created: 12/19/14 (Fri) | Topic: Leadership

The North Dakota Farm Bureau Promotion and Education (P&E) Committee Chair, Val Wagner of Monango, has been appointed to the national American Farm Bureau Federation Promotion and Education Committee. Val will serve a two year term as vice chair.

North Dakota Farm Bureau has had a P&E Committee for 15 years and offers a variety of opportunities and programs to promote and educate the public about agriculture. This year the American Farm Bureau Federation decided to launch a national P&E Committee. The committee will develop and centralize resources that inspire and equip Farm Bureau members to convey the significance of agriculture. The newly selected committee will be encouraging and helping others states establish P&E programs and activities.

“I’m hoping in the next two years we will grow the program and add on more states to the P&E program,” said Wagner. “One goal is to surface and develop new ideas and programs that more states can utilize and county Farm Bureaus can use to promote agriculture and engage consumers.

“There is a need to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers,” commented Wagner. “There are never enough people willing to share the story of agriculture. One of our jobs as P&E members is to put the tools out there so people are comfortable putting the story out there.”

The first meeting for the new Committee is in San Diego at the AFBF Annual Convention in early January. The committee then plans to meet 4 times a year and communicate via email and conference calls as needed.
