Young people working to make a difference

Topic: Leadership

College can be a life-changing experience. It’s a time when you really get to decide what is important to you; what role you want to play in making the world a better place. That’s one of the reasons I’m so proud of what NDFB’s Collegiate Farm Bureau program does.

I am the advisor for the NDSU Collegiate Farm Bureau chapter. And each year, I’m amazed and gratified to see how much these young people are working to make a difference.

Our collegiate members are active in NDFB’s policy development process. In September, they hosted a resolutions meeting and sent two club members to the district resolutions meeting in Page, N.D. The students love participating in this process, because they get to speak out on what’s important to them, while also hearing what resolutions are important to other counties. Allowing students to participate gives them insight into the policy development process that our organization was founded on and prepares them to be active members of their local county Farm Bureaus.
