The politics of food

Agriculture has a lot to be proud of regarding food production, according to Dr. Jayson Lusk, an ag economics professor at Oklahoma State University. He addressed attendees at the America Farm Bureau Federation's SPARC Conference in Kansas City, Missouri, this week.
"I spend my career researching the consumer and partly it is to understand what kinds of new technologies and products will be profitable to market," Lusk said in AFBF’s Newsline. But, Lusk explained, he also tries to understand the consequences of public policies. "I think creating a political environment in which people are accepting of those new technologies will be a significant challenge going forward," he said.
